Hey lovelies,

I'm Scarlet, a 21-year-old University student at Auckland University, where I'm pursuing a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Communication. I was born and raised in the beautiful town of Taupo, but for the past seven years, Auckland has been my home. Aside from my academic journey, I'm also a passionate hip hop dancer. I've been dancing both professionally and recreationally since I was ten, and it's a huge part of my life.

Over the past year, I've been working with a high-end escort agency in Auckland called Auckland Waitresses. My role has evolved, and I've become more involved in client-facing lead generation and advertising. This experience has been incredibly valuable, especially as I'm also interning at a digital marketing company that focuses on lead generation and digital advertising. The skills and insights I've gained from both roles complement each other perfectly.

Being in this industry for just over a year now has been a transformative experience. Through my blogs, I aim to talk about what this work is really like, shedding light on the realities, sharing some of my personal experiences, and advocating for positive social change. I believe it's important to raise awareness about the issues still embedded in this industry and to challenge the misconceptions surrounding it.

​

In one of my blog posts, I draw a comparison between this work and hookup culture. During my first year at university, I dabbled in hookup culture because I didn't have the time for serious relationships. However, I quickly realised how isolating and vulnerable it made me feel. Even when I did get into relationships, they either demanded more time and effort than I could give, or I found myself being mistreated.

Working with Auckland Waitresses offered me the benefits of hookup culture without the negatives. It provided me with a sense of security that I never experienced before. Plus, it introduced me to the sweetest guy, who is now my boyfriend. I couldn't be happier.

​

This job has been immensely empowering. It boosted my confidence, helped me establish firm boundaries, and made me financially independent. Thanks to this work, I've been able to save money for travel and enjoy a quality of life that I wouldn't have otherwise had.

​
