Adventures and Memorable Moments

Updated: Jun 3, 2024

From hilarious accent escapades and spontaneous nights out to heartwarming bonding moments and unforgettable adventures, working with Auckland Waitresses has been a whirlwind of joy, laughter, and genuine connections that make every day extraordinary.

On a less serious note, let's talk about some of my personal Adventures and Memorable Moments working in this industry. My personal experience working with Auckland Waitresses has been filled with unforgettable adventures and heartwarming moments, both in and out of the workplace. Whether we're heading out to trendy cocktail lounges and bars for a night of drinks and laughter, enjoying delicious dinners, mourning the death of our fish, or just spending time together, the vibe is always vibrant and genuine. The supportive, family-like atmosphere we enjoy creates the perfect backdrop for these outings, where we not only unwind but also create lasting memories together. Our social gatherings are spontaneous and full of joy, making every moment feel special and cherished. This isn't just a job—it's a community of friends who genuinely care for each other and relish the time spent together. There are far too many adventures and memorable moments to count but I'll talk about some of the ones that stand out the most.

One of the earliest memorable moments I have working with this agency happened one night early last year after we’d all finished work for the day. so to give you some context, a few of us had been trying to do different accents for a little while but this specific night two of the girls were upstairs in one of the rooms, and as I was walking upstairs to meet them I heard one of them talking in an Indian accent and when the other girl went to go respond the accent came out more southern than Indian. We all broke out laughing and for the rest of the evening reverted to a southern accent in everything we said. I believe that night there were also some reenactments of Love Island USA (as you do) and we were just in tears laughing that whole time. Following that evening, one by one the girls started catching onto this southern accent because of how often we were speaking in it until everyone, including new girls would be in on it. This went on for months on end, and we even got the boss speaking in the accent as well, which he didn’t quite appreciate. Still to this day the accent still lingers around from time to time.

A group of women all smiling and having a glass of wine each in a lounge. Blurry.

I also remember vividly one night late last year, me and all the girls were trying to convince one of the other girls who wasn’t big on going out to come for a couple of drinks, we said “what would it take for you to come out with us” she replied by saying she would if the male boss sculled a bottle of fireball. We then all proceeded to egg him on until he picked up the bottle and started drinking, he finished three quarters of a bottle in about a minute and we all sat there absolutely gobsmacked. The shocking part was he seemed so fine straight after, which confused us because let's be real, sculling straights is disgusting, especially that amount. But this quickly deteriorated as the fireball started to sink in, he went very quiet for a while afterwards (fair enough). He then decided to embark on a walk and came home with more shots. I remember later that night bargaining shots with him because he was hoarding them all. I believe at one point of the night shots were being hidden in the dishwasher to cut us off, which was rude. Poor sod shortly after sought comfort in bed curled up with a bucket. Needless to say it was an early night for the boss and sadly none of us made it to town that night. No regrets though, it was a fun night (not sure the boss would agree).

One other memorable moment that happened more recently was regarding the death of our beloved fish tank friends.

So in one of the apartments we have a fish tank, with all the Finding Nemo characters might I add.

We have Marlin, Nemo, Dory, Bubbles, with the addition of a cleaner shrimp namely Mr Krabs, and a bi-colour blini named Benny. We also have a number of other marine life in the tank, including corals and anemone. Anyways, this is in fact the second set of fish we have had at this apartment as previously they had sadly passed away. Little backstory to this, a while ago we had to bug bomb the apartment as we were getting rid of some nasty insects rudely making an appearance, and as a result our poor beloved fish took the fall. After mourning them, we felt the place just wasn’t the same without them so we decided to get some more fishy friends, who are now our Finding Nemo crew. Now mr krabs was a ballsy guy and would always walk over the anemone which is likely to sting or eat him, but this guy just kept doing it. Anyways one day we looked in the tank and couldn't find him anywhere and realised that we hadn’t seen him for the last day or so. We thought maybe he jumped out of the tank so we were looking all over for the poor guy for ages only to come to the conclusion he took one too many risks and the anemone got the better of him. May he rest in peace.

Just the other night, me and a few of the girls from out of town, who were staying at the apartment, decided to have a truly wholesome evening.

We planned to paint wine glasses and try out the "paint swap every 5 minutes" trend from TikTok.

The night before, we enjoyed a delicious dinner at a hotpot restaurant, and then headed to Kmart. We bought wine glasses, canvases, and some glass paints before heading back home. The following evening, after everyone had wrapped up for the day, we gathered in the lounge. With music playing softly in the background, we set up our supplies and started painting our wine glasses. The room was soon filled with laughter and chatter as we let our creativity flow. Once we finished our wine glasses, we moved on to the canvases. If you haven't seen the "paint swap every 5 minutes" trend on TikTok, here's how it works: each person starts with their own canvas, and a timer is set for five minutes. You paint on your canvas until the timer goes off, then you pass your canvas to the next person. This continues, with everyone adding their own touches to each painting. The atmosphere was electric, filled with giggles and the joy of creating something together. As the timer beeped and canvases were swapped, our paintings transformed with each new perspective. By the end of the night, we had created a collection of unique, collaborative masterpieces and made memories we'll cherish forever. It was a night of pure, wholesome fun, and a beautiful reminder of the simple joy that comes from spending time with friends and letting your creativity run wild.

One of the standout aspects of Auckland Waitresses is the genuine friendships and relationships that flourish in an environment free of judgement. While other agencies might strive to foster a positive culture, here it feels completely organic. The foundation of this supportive, family-like atmosphere is built on mutual support in all areas of life, with clear boundaries to eliminate any toxic behaviour. Working here, I've forged some of my absolute best friendships and created unforgettable memories with these incredible girls. It's a place where the connections you make aren't just professional; they're deeply personal and lasting, filled with warmth and genuine care. The camaraderie and sense of belonging make this more than just a workplace—it’s a community that feels like home.
